New Rule: Backlog Students Can Apply for Aikyashree / MCM / Post Matric!

Finally, some good news has arrived for all the minority students from the WBMDFC department. As we had already discussed earlier, the West Bengal Higher Education Department had issued important guidelines regarding the Aikyashree SVMCM Scholarship. Many students were concerned about their eligibility, especially those who had received a backlog or supplementary in any subject. Today, we will explain clearly how such students can still be eligible for the scholarship under certain conditions.

If you are an applicant of the Aikyashree SVMCM Scholarship and you unfortunately received a backlog in any semester, and even after applying for PPR (Post Publication Review), your result remains the same – you might be worried about whether you can still apply. The WBMDFC has now clarified this situation based on a new order from the West Bengal Higher Education Department.

However, this rule comes with an exception or, as good news for all minority students. Students who are studying in Engineering, Medical, or other AICTE or UGC Approved professional courses(BBA, BCA, BCOM), and have secured more than 50% marks overall and have been promoted to the next year or semester, can still apply for the Merit-cum-Means (MCM) scholarship, even if they have any backlog. But in such cases, they will have to apply as a fresh candidate. If they are already getting the MCM scholarship, they just need to renew it, no need to apply as a fresh.

For students enrolled in general degree courses like BA, BSc, or BCom – if they are promoted to the next academic year, even if they have any backlog and have secured more than 50% marks, they will have to apply as a fresh candidate. If they are already getting Post Matric scholarship, they just need to renew it, no need to apply as a fresh.

In short, if you have a backlog but your overall marks are above 50% and you are promoted to the next class, you may still be eligible for the Aikyashree Scholarship, but whether you can renew or need to apply fresh depends on your course type.

In our next update, we will explain how students who do not belong to any minority community can still apply for scholarships, such as the OASIS Scholarship, even if they have a backlog or supplementary.
